David McKenzie (Young Adam, Hallam Foe) returns to our screens with this tough, realistic and often brutal prison drama. Eric Love is a young offender who has been ‘starred up’ for premature transfer to an adult prison. It is in this jail that Eric is reunited with his father, a fellow prisoner who has been incarcerated since Eric’s early childhood. The young Eric’s erratic violence and unflinching aggression means that he soon has a long list of enemies within the prison staff and fellow inmates, and neither his father, nor the well-meaning prison counsellor can easily provide protection.
