Some Came Running

Some Came Running is Vincente Minnelli’s big budget adaptation of the second novel by From Here to Eternity author James Jones.

After 16 years, David Hirsh – an Army veteran and novelist – returns home to a small American town with a young woman, where his homecoming causes friction with his aspirational brother. 

For this largescale MGM melodrama, Minnelli gathered another star-packed cast including Frank Sinatra, Shirley MacLaine, Dean Martin, and Arthur Kennedy, who was nominated for an Oscar for his supporting role.
