A group of children who have moved to France from all corners of the globe attend a special class at a school in Paris. Before they can enter normal classes, they must learn French. The lessons progress, and more is revealed of their lives, as the children open up about the experiences and the hardships they have faced. Wisely remaining in the classroom for the most part, Julie Bertuccelli’s film is a humane riposte to tabloid representations of immigrant life.
