Centring on superstar Andy Lau’s Big, a Buddist Monk turned muscle bound stripper, who struggles with the fact that he can see people’s future and co-directed by Johnnie To and his long time collaborator Wai Ka-fai, Running on Karma is one-of-a-kind film. A deceptively complex work that combines elements of the supernatural with the crime film and Buddhist philosophy it was winner of Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay at the Hong Kong film awards.
