Roberto Succo

Directed by Cédric Kahn

Kahn’s intelligent portrait of a serial killer is based on actual events that occurred during the 80s. Adapted from a book on the subject, ROBERTO SUCCO follows the trail of a disturbed young Italian, now living in France as an Englishman named ‘Kurt’. Kurt enters into a relationship with a young French woman who finds him unpredictable and a bit excitable, nothing more. Meanwhile, a string of thefts, rapes, kidnaps and murders are taking place across southern France. The police are on the case, but finding it difficult to locate the suspect. Eschewing sensationalism for an almost documentary approach, ROBERTO is told from the differing perspectives of all the characters, no matter how minor, creating complex characters and avoiding easy moralising.
