Charting the rocky journey of a young girl ready for marriage, and the trials and tribulations of inevitably marrying a man not of her choosing, the fantastic Shadi Veryani plays a head strong daughter. Heading for disaster she is torn between family honour and the love of her life. The film takes place amidst the soaring snow capped mountains of the border region between Iraq and Iran where the outstanding cinematography is truly breathtaking. Full of cultural significance and lives strikingly different from our own, this sensitive yet forthright film is an outstanding portrayal of Kurdish culture.
Requiem of Snow previously screened at Olympia International Film Festival for children and young people where it won the award for Best Director.
