Renoir

Directed by Gilles Bourdos

In the summer of 1915, Jean Renoir arrived at the summer home of his father, painter Pierre-Auguste. The artist was in ill health, as was his son, who had been injured fighting in the war. They both were enlivened by the presence of model and performer, Andrée Heuschling, who inspired inspire Pierre-Auguste to create some of his finest late works and Renoir junior to pursue filmmaking. Gilles Bourdos’ film is a recreation of this rhapsodic summer.
