Red Lights

Directed by Cédric Kahn

Adapted from a novel by crimewriter Georges Simenon (Maigret, MONSIEUR HIRE) by the director of ROBERTO SUCCO, RED LIGHTS is a darkly comic thriller with Hitchcockian undertones. When an insurance salesman (Darroussin) and his corporate lawyer wife (Bouquet) travel south to collect their kids, their bickering and his inebriation escalate during the stressful, traffic-jammed road trip. When the husband returns from yet another refreshment detour he finds her gone. Picking up a hitchhiker, he forgets the police warnings about an escaped killer. Kahn takes a mundane situation and, with nods to Hitch, de Palma and even Tati, ratchets up the tension as he interjects the humour.
