Personal Velocity – Three Stories

Directed by Rebecca Miller

Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival, PERSONAL VELOCITY is a triptych glimpse into the lives of three women in transition, adapted by director Miller (daughter of Arthur) from her own short stories. Sedgwick is a working-class mother of three escaping a bad marriage; ambitious 28-year-old cookbook editor Posey weighs a change in her life; Balk is a troubled teen thrown further into crisis by a brush with death. Exquisitely and imaginatively shot on mini-DV by Sundance-winner Ellen Kuras.
