Passport to Pimlico

Directed by Henry Cornelius

When an unexploded WWII bomb is accidentally detonated in Pimlico, Arthur Pemberton and his daughter Shirley investigate the crater made by the explosion. There, they discover a treasure trove, including documents proving that the region is in fact part of Burgundy, France.

The residents are quick to take the opportunity to escape from post-World War II austerity, tear up their ration books and break from English rule. The British Government, however, hatch a plan to regain control.

A whimsical tale of plucky underdogs going up against the British establishment, Passport to Pimlico is a typically charming comedy from Ealing Studios’ golden age.
