On the island of Tahiti, government official De Roller is a calculating man who navigates the island’s elite establishment as well as shady venues where he mingles with the locals. On his travels through Tahitian society, De Roller learns of a rumour circulating the island: a submarine has been sighted off the coast, ominously heralding the possible return of French nuclear testing.
