Pennebaker & Hegedus seek out the last great soul performers who were crowded out by disco. Combining new live footage and archival recordings of legends such as Wilson Pickett, Mary Wilson, Isaac Hayes, Sam Moore, and Jerry Butler, theirs is a fond and lasting document of classic R&B stars – 25 years after the hits stopped coming. CP Lee is an author, musician and teaches Popular Culture at the University of Salford.
