Given recent events in Hollywood it is timely to revisit North Country, a film about a woman’s struggle to fight sexual harassment in the workplace. Based on the experiences of Lois Jenson, who worked at the EVTAC mine in Minnesota and took legal action against the mistreatment she experienced, the film, directed by Niki Caro, is another rare example of Hollywood taking women’s activism seriously. Charlize Theron and Frances McDormand were both nominated for Oscars for their roles in the film.
