My Little Eye

Directed by Marc Evans

The most talked about British horror film in ages. Truly terrifying and sharply satirical, MY LITTLE EYE will re-define the genre and could be the creepiest hour and a half that you’ve ever experienced. Five twentysomethings sign up to live together in an isolated old house for six months, their every move to be webcast live 24/7. Motives for participating differ although the million-dollar award for remaining together for the entire period is an incentive. But as the time draws to a close, strange and scary things start to happen, and the tension mounts. The shrewd script makes the most of a mix of genre conventions and filmic references, but it’s the film’s visual and aural inventiveness that really adds the extra turn of the screw. Implicating the audience in its manipulation, the entire film is viewed through the webcams installed throughout the house, with grainy, creaky images. Likewise the dialogue appears to be captured on computer mics, with an accompanying disturbing soundscape that’s mixed to perfection. Extra late night screenings Fri and Sat.
