Marius

Directed by Daniel Auteuil

Daniel Auteil first found international fame with his appearance in the adaptation of Marcel Pagnol’s novels Jean de Florette and Manon des sources. Here he adapts the first of Pagnol’s Marseillaise trilogy, which charts the growing relationship between the eponymous hero and Fanny, who sells cockles outside his father César’s bar. However, Marius soon finds himself conflicted between settling down with Fanny and leading a quiet, if conventional life, and his desire to travel the world.
