The story of a young woman (Anna Paquin) who witnesses a bus accident and then finds her perceptions about the world changing, the second feature from Kenneth Lonnergan suffered problems on its initial release and went under the radar. A sprawling post 9/11 drama about modern life, that bravely focuses on a relatively unsympathetic central character, this is a thoughtful and audacious character study from a director rightly acclaimed for his perceptivity.
