Join Manchester Animation Festival as we celebrate 25 years of The Iron Giant – a modern animated classic.
In 1950s America, a young boy named Hogarth befriends a giant robot from outer space that crash-lands near his town. Whilst the Iron Giant is kind, a paranoid government agent becomes determined to destroy the misunderstood robot.
Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratatouille) made his feature directing debut with this moving animated adventure inspired by an illustrated children’s novel by poet Ted Hughes. The Iron Giant is beautifully animated with the visual iconography of ’50s genre cinema, and features a humanist message, lots of wit and a huge amount of heart.
Event/ This screening will be introduced by Dr Steve Henderson, Festival Director at Manchester Animation Festival.
