L’Illa de l’holandès

Directed by Sigfried Monleon

In 1969, a young lecturer has been banished to a small island (Formentera, the setting for SEX AND LUCIA) where he’s under a loose house arrest for his political beliefs. The tiny population view him with a mix of responses ranging from boredom to friendship to hero worship. Populated by exiles, eccentrics, and worldweary locals, nothing seems to happen on the island. Then the talk of an urbanising major tourist development starts, causing a rift between the islanders and exposing hidden histories of some of the inhabitants.
