Lady Bird

Directed by Greta Gerwig

Gerwig’s second feature as director is a bittersweet and confidently-realised love letter to her hometown of Sacramento and the awkward space between adolescence and adulthood. A rebellious young woman (Ronan) from a loving but cash strapped family navigates the pressures and constraints of Catholic school whilst dreaming of escape to the bright lights. A whip smart look at the dichotomy between the worlds of the haves and have-nots and the awkward space between adolescence and adulthood, Gerwig, who also scripts, delivers a coming-of-age tale for our times.
