La Silla

Directed by Julio D. Wallovits

One of the co-directors of SMOKING ROOM (¡Viva! 2003) returns with his solo directorial feature début. LA SILLA is an existentialist, blackly comic reflection on modern life, inflected with flashes of absurdity a la Beckett. A man recognises the tedium of his existence, but nothing seems to help him escape it. He tries new friends and different advice but nothing works. Then one day he spies a chair and is convinced that it will bring new meaning to his life. He focuses his faith on the chair and sets out to achieve his dream. Quirky characters weave in and out of the bleached, barren urban setting, in a strange, denaturalised aesthetic.
