Polish director Borowczyk’s work straddles the border between arthouse and sleazy Euro-porn. Mixing beautiful cinematography, surreal imagery, lots of sex and plenty of perversion, this is the tale of an American heiress betrothed to the son of a once powerful French family. Her arrival at the crumbling French homestead provokes all manner of sexual interest and intrigue, not least from a lustful beast prowling the estate.
