Invincible

Directed by Werner Herzog

In his latest film, Herzog continues his exploration of the human soul with the true story of a simple man who comes to believe that he has been sent on a mission from God. Zishe is a Jewish blacksmith’s son from a small village who suddenly finds himself in the decadent limelight of Weimar Berlin where he gains celebrity as a strongman. As Hitler’s anti-Semitic stranglehold increases, Zishe is plagued by nightmares until one day he is persuaded to become a prophet of doom. With amazing performances from its central duo (non-professional actors), like KASPER HAUSER, this is a moving portrait of a stranger in a strange land. Preview courtesy of Film Four. INVINCIBLE will open in the Spring.
