In This World

Directed by Michael Winterbottom

IN THIS WORLD blurs the lines between fiction and reality filmmaking in its chronicle of the perilous journey faced by a pair of Afghan asylum-seekers. Starting in a notorious refugee camp in Pakistan, the film follows 12-year-old Jamal and his older cousin Enayatullah on the dangerous and uncertain journey that will take them through Iran, into Turkey, and onto a freighter headed for Europe and a hoped-for better life. An emotionally powerful and compelling film, IN THIS WORLD serves as a rallying cry for tolerance and human rights across Europe and the world.Following the film there will be a Post Screening Panel. For the panel we have invited people who have sought refuge in the UK recently to discuss their experiences and what happens when the journey is over.
