James Nachtwey is an unassuming, greying photographer whose subject happens to be war. Faced with suffering, death, violence and chaoshe seeks the photo that will reveal the story and is publishable. Unlike the stereotypical war photographers of Hollywood fiction, Nachtwey is no macho man, but a quietly brave, thoughtful individual in search of that defining image. Nominated for the 2002 Feature Documentary Oscar.
