Fruitvale Station

Directed by Ryan Coogler

Fruitvale Station is based on the true story of Oscar Grant III who, on New Year’s Day in 2009, was shot and killed by a transit cop. We see that final day through his eyes – or the eyes of a director who wants to arouse our passions and inflame our indignation at what has been seen as a miscarriage of justice. Such passions made Coogler’s film one of the must-see movies at the Sundance Film Festival and also one of the most talked-about American indies of the last year.
