Friendship’s Death

Rebecca O’Brien’s first credit as a producer is this collaboration with director and film theorist Peter Wollen. Friendship (Tilda Swinton) is a robot who upon landing on earth – in a middle eastern war zone – embarks on a series of conversations with a journalist Sullivan (Bill Paterson) about the state of the world. Populated by some striking performances, this is a rare screening of this political piece of science fiction.
