Elaha

Elaha faces a dilemma just weeks away from her wedding to Nasim. She must decide whether or not to cover up the fact that she is no longer a virgin – a state of ‘honour’ considered essential by her German-Kurdish community and, especially, by her strict mother. 

Debut filmmaker Milena Aboyan creates a tense and poignant drama, which carefully explores the cultural ties that bind its titular protagonist as the young woman embarks on a journey of self-discovery.
