Doc’n Roll Presents/ Pauline Black: A 2-Tone Story + Q&A

Directed by Jane Mingay

Pauline Black, lead singer of hit 2-Tone band The Selecter, tells her extraordinary life story in the same frank manner that helped shape her as an iconic, era-defining female musician.

Pauline had a difficult childhood, and grew up experiencing the racism of 1950s Britain. When Pauline joined the Coventry 2-Tone music scene in the late 70s, the experience was transformational; enabling her to explore and express all sides of herself and the society around her.

Looking back at her own ground-breaking journey in this documentary, Pauline traces how her legacy came about and its relevance to the world today.

Combining archive footage, interviews with Pauline’s collaborators and peers, and a storming soundtrack, Pauline Black: A 2-Tone Story is a visceral cinematic experience.

Event/ This screening will be followed by a Q&A with Pauline Black (lead singer, The Selector) and Nikki Parrott (producer, Pauline Black: A 2-Tone Story), hosted by broadcaster Karen Gabay.
