Devarim

Directed by Amos Gitai

Based on Yaakov Shabtai’s novel, DEVARIM is the first part of a trilogy on three Israeli cities. It explores the feelings and experiences of three close friends during a hot summer, simultaneously evoking an allegory of Tel Aviv and its mythologies. Caesar is a 40-year-old photographer who lives to chase women. Thirtysomething Israel is a withdrawn underachiever who can’t make the effort to enact his dreams. Goldman is a bit older, dreams of a great love, but lives in his parents’ flat, and leads a mundane lawyer’s life.
