Declaration of War

Directed by Valérie Donzelli

Based on real-life events experienced by filmmaker Valérie Donzelli and co-star/writer Jérémie Elkaïm, Declaration of War tells of a young Parisian couple suddenly dragged from their carefree existence by an unexpected twist of fate. Their 18-month-old toddler Adam is undergoing a series of tests and treatments and is receiving increasingly frightening diagnoses. The film is told from the point of view of Adam’s young parents as they enlist a compassionate army of parents, in-laws and friends to storm the opaque world of the medical establishment. Both a critical and box office hit in France as well as internationally, Declaration of War was selected as France’s entry for the 2012 Oscars.
