Dead Time

Directed by Steve Sanguedolce

Combining documentary, narrative and experimental elements into a fascinating whole, DEAD TIME is an investigation into the lives of three young people who grapple with drugs, sexual abuse, prostitution and crime. Wendy, Julie and Mark tell their parallel stories of desperate lives on the edge of society. They are damaged people who have lived through traumatic experiences in a ruthless world, but still manage to maintain a shimmer of hope for the future.

Steve Sanguedolce, a Toronto based artist, musician, and filmmaker has created an uncompromising account of three peoples lives in this beautifully hand processed and hand coloured feature length film. The blurred images and incredible soundtrack reinforces and contradicts the stories told, and the entrusting tone of the narrators leave with us marvel at their sense of survival and strength despite the overwhelming odds.
