Days and Nights in the Forest

Directed by Satyajit Ray

Considered by a number of critics to be Ray’s masterpiece, DAYS AND NIGHTS is probably the director’s most humorous film, an ironic exploration of differences between the urban and rural, western and traditional, and between the classes. Four young men leave the stress of work and Calcutta behind for a brief summer sojourn in the forest. But their encounters with a couple of local women, and other neighbours lead to a change in their attitude.
