Cowboy Dave is a Bafta winning short film set in the suburbs of Manchester in 1991. It’s the semi fictional retelling of an encounter director Colin O’Toole had as a 12 year old boy with Dave Rowbotham (Durutti Column, The Mothmen) who was known to some as Cowboy Dave.
The film is produced by Third Rail films and The Peanut Factory in association with Rank & File. It stars Sam Spruell (Snow White & The Huntsman, Starred Up, London to Brighton) Steve Evets (Looking for Eric, Rev) Christine Bottomley (The Arbor, Early Doors, Fearless) and newcomer Dylan Naden (Jimmy McGovern’s Broken) with supporting roles from Matt Raikes (Burgundy Blood) and drumming legend Bruce Mitchell (Durutti Column)
It features the music of Mancunian band The Mothmen, an experimental post punk band from the early 1980’s and Graham Massey (808 State) delivers the score.
