Buñuel y la mesa del rey Salomon

Directed by Carlos Saura

Luis Buñuel has always been an inspiration to Saura, never more so than in this surreal hybrid that reunites Buñuel with the friends and collaborators of his youth, artist Salvador Dali and poet Fernando Garcia Lorca. In a time-hopping narrative, during the 30’s the young trio is involved in an Indiana Jones-styled search for King Solomon’s table – a project imagined by the elderly Buñuel decades later. In this fond tribute, Saura emulates the director’s style, lacing the film with references to the work of all three artists to achieve a rich, iconoclastic imagery.
