Breadcrumb Trail

Directed by Lance Bangs

Recorded in a single weekend, Slint’s second album Spiderland became a seminal early 90s post-rock album. The band members split shortly before its release, all before they reached 21 years old. They have since reformed sporadically, including a recent sold out gig at Manchester’s Albert Hall in December 2013.

Documentary filmmaker and music video director Lance Bangs starts his film by using his early footage of the band members on VHS in Louisville, and covers their story before and after Spiderland. A fascinating exploration of the key dynamic between band members Britt Walford and Brian McMahan, Breadcrumb Trail also covers the Louisville scene of the late 80s and early 90s from which the band emerged.

Featuring Slint, Steve Albini, Ian Mackaye, David Grubbs, David Yow, James Murphy and archival material from Will Oldham.
