Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman

Directed by Pierre Foldes

Based on a collection of short stories by Haruki Murakami, Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman is an animation that follows the lives of multiple people and creatures as they navigate life in Tokyo in the aftermath of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. The surreal cast of characters – each of them grappling with the existential repercussions of urban life – includes an unambitious bank employee, his frustrated wife, a delusional accountant, a lost cat and a giant, talkative frog.
