A beautiful and often comic semi-autobiographical chronicle of growing up at the end of WWII. Esken is the seven-year-old accordionist who lives in a small southern mining village where he and his best mate enjoy a life filled with games and childish intrigue. When some Japanese P.O.W’s aid Esken against some bullies, his carefree childhood is threatened.
