Betty Fisher and Other Stories

Directed by Claude Miller

Based on the Ruth Rendell novel Tree of Hands, BETTY FISHER is an emotionally resonant thriller that explores notions of family and motherhood. Betty is a successful author and the doting single mother of young Joseph. Her history with her emotionally disturbed mother Margot is troubled so when mama comes to visit tension mounts. Meanwhile, Carole is a single, working class mother who mistreats her young son. The paths of these three mothers will unexpectedly intersect in a desperate act of violence and love. Featuring a fine script and excellent performances, especially from the central trio, BETTY FISHER is a highly intelligent film and a real treat.
