Beau Travail is a muscular, poetic and hypnotically beautiful piece of cinema. Directed and shot by women, it celebrates the male body and male camaraderie in the isolated ranks of a French Foreign Legion outpost. A triangular homoerotic love rivalry leads to jealousy and revenge. The simple story belies the film¹s power, imbued through its mesmerising visuals and choreography.
