Chen Chieh-jen’s video Bade Area was shot in Bade a once thriving industrial city in northwest Taiwan. The piece was inspired by a billboard saying ‘The Majestic Town’ with an arrow pointing to barren land where a factory once stood. Bade Area, shot on 16mm, poetically documents the abandonment of the area and its suspension between its industrial use and the areas regeneration.
