Suzume, a 17-year-old girl, lives in a quiet town. On her way to school, she meets a mysterious young man and follows him through a magical door in nearby ruins. Opening the door unleashes a calamity that endangers the entire population of Japan, so together, they go on a journey to close mysterious door portals across Japan to prevent further disasters.
