Appointment With Venus

This special showing of a hidden gem of British war films marks the centenary of the birth of Salford born actor George Coulouris. Coulouris’ long and distinguished career includes FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS, WATCH ON THE RHINE with Bette Davis and the part of Walter Parks Thatcher in CITIZEN KANE. APPOINTMENT WITH VENUS, also starring David Niven, follows a British forces assignment in the Channel Islands to save a prize cow (the Venus of the title) from the evil clutches of Nazi Commander Weiss (Coulouris). ***Cornerhouse is delighted to welcome George Coulouris Jr and Brian Dean, the son of and former BBC producer and friend of George Coulouris respectively to introduce the screening.***
