All the Real Girls

Directed by David Gordon Green

Written and directed by 27-year-old indie filmmaker Green, ALL THE REAL GIRLS is an ethereal, bittersweet love story, set in a rusting South Carolina mill town. Twentysomething Paul (Schneider) is a notorious womaniser who unexpectedly falls for the virginal Noel (Deschanel), but their budding love is tested by mismatched ambitions. Shot in burnished tones, with a poetic narrative and deliberately stilted dialogue, the film owes a clear debt to the work of Terrence Malick. Winner of the 2003 Sundance Special Jury Prize.
