Accattone

Directed by Pasolini

Accattone is a young man who lives in the shanty towns on the outskirts of Rome. Trapped in a sordid cycle of poverty, vice and despair, he futilely dreams of escape, so he begins to plan another way out. A strangely poetic vision of gangs and overheated slums, ACCATTONE caused a scandal upon its premiere and established Pasolini as a filmmaker to follow.
