A Desert

Directed by Joshua Erkman

A vivid and ferocious American nightmare that might be the best horror film of the year.

Landscape photographer Alex travels out into the middle of seemingly nowhere looking for both his own lost past and a vanishing culture. What he discovers draws more people into a horrifying vortex, following a narrative path modelled on Hitchcock’s Psycho but with its own cosmic concerns and destination.

Debut director Erkman collides the disciplines of visual art and music (Jesus Lizard’s David Yow co-stars; Ty Segall provides the score) to create a destabilising and terrifying thriller designed to leave you looking at the world in a very different way.
