Jason Barker’s debut feature documentary, produced by Manchester-based Loran Dunn, is a very personal chronicle of becoming a parent. Drawing on filmed diaries made over the last ten years that document both Jason’s transgender journey and his parental journey, the film is groundbreaking in terms of its intimate insights into gender identity and new parenthood.
Short film screening alongside this feature film: Big Talk
Artists Susie Green and Simon Bayliss perform on screen as Splash Addict, their ongoing performance, music and video collaboration. In Big Talk they undertake a colour-saturated journey from being hushed cinema audience members to becoming their most exuberant and stylish selves on the screen itself. Driven by a new dance track written by Green and Bayliss, Big Talk is a humorous yet sincere filmic reflection on human relationships, personal expression and how we might come together to watch, speak and act.
We will be joined by director Jason Barker and producer Loran Dunn for a Q&A following the screening on Fri 12 Apr at 18:10.
