Three Painters: Eric Parker

New York based Parker comes to Cornerhouse fresh from the Barbican’s major survey exhibition the americans: new art. His works are word paintings that mix hieroglyphic lists with lurid psychedelia to create a unique visual hip hop style. The worlds of high and low culture meet on equal terms within elaborate webs of association. Football hooligans, obscure hardcore bands, Gilbert and George and the state executions under George W. Bush’s governorship of Texas are all mapped by free association across canvas and paper.
