Conceived by Hitchhiker, the gallery will house a continuous event, Occupy. Here, a large-scale, interactive puppet built by Katy-Anne Bellis will stand without identifying with age, sex or birthplace. All that is known is its name, Atlas.
Ignoring the elitist culture of art venues and claiming the space as its own, the titan will represent those who are not the casual gallery-goer. Almost in protest, Occupy will work with a myriad of artists throughout the weeks of August in which Atlas will be challenged, probed, praised and left to its own devices. On Thursday evenings, visitors can enjoy and experience late night events presented by special guests.
