Two years in the making, ‘The End’ is a cycle of over 100 acrylic paintings on canvas by British artist Mario Rossi. Rossi depicts the closing shots of 100 films thus freezing the momentary flicker of a decaying frame of film. With each ending, Rossi explores notions of time and completeness as well as the beginnings of something else…In painting the illusion of the projected image, Rossi opens up our own mental film archive, igniting a host of complex associative mental pictures and recollections of lives and events.
