For her new Gallery 1 show, Mexican artist Minerva Cuevas presents a selection of work including installations, film and wall paintings that use social and scientific research to question man’s relationship to nature.

Using second-hand sources, industrial materials and early optical equipment, Cuevas takes us back to a time when early scientific research was linked to man’s desire to understand the world. At the same time, she assesses the motives of early scientific enquiry and questions the instinct to domesticate wild environments.
